ok so the cheesesteak, or better known outside of philly as the “philly” cheesesteak, is probably one of the most intimidating samiches to ever try an order. i know, its steak and cheese on a hoagie, big deal. But in philidephia, here at Pat’s, its more or a rite of passage, a carefully selected bunch of words that to most sounds like an insult. first thing to consider is the cheese, im confused and cold, so i stuck with the classic with wiz, yes wiz. as in cheese wiz. philly loves it and i’m in no place to suggest a nice gruyère. then onto toppings. again keeping it classic i order onions, actually in my head i ordered onions here i said wit, as in with or without onions. so in total i think i may have just ended up saying, cheesesteak wiz wit?????? ok. now. eat.
then after consuming pats unassuming offering, and being plesently surprised as to how well cheese wiz stands up to steak and onions, consider the wattage of Genos. sunglasses optional. now i feel like i’m cheating.
standing, waiting, to be able to recant the same prayer i did at pats, theres alot to take in here at genos. my eyes are starting to hurt, bright lights, pictures of past patrons all smiles and giggles, cheese wiz faces. then its my turn to taste the forbidden fruit, and yes its good. better than pats, hmm, not sure, close. but i think back to back cheesesteak eating was probably a bad idea anyway.
